Meet Amy

Thanks for stopping by — I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m Amy, a proud East Tennessee native whose life and career have been shaped by service, resilience, and community. My journey has taken me across the country through years of military service—both as a Soldier and a military spouse—and ultimately to the creation of Aloha Therapy for Wellness. My practice was built around the belief that healing begins with connection, compassion, and safety. With over two decades of experience, I have supported individuals and families through various transitions—change, loss, and growth—in diverse capacities.

I’m a proud East Tennessee native and Army veteran whose journey has taken me across the country, through deployments, reintegration, and the challenges of military family life. The spirit of “Aloha” first touched my heart while stationed in Hawaii, where I witnessed firsthand the power of compassion, connection, and belonging—values that now guide my work as a therapist.  I understand what it means to carry invisible weight while caring for others. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, affirming, and rooted in genuine empathy.

My approach is trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and inclusive. I use evidence-based modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), (IFS), Internal Family Systems, Gottman-informed relationship work, and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) —modalities that help clients process pain, rebuild trust, and rediscover their sense of self, allowing clients to begin to heal from the inside out.

I hold an M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from William & Mary, where I focused on Military, Veterans, and Families.  As a LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, I’ve completed training with SAIGE (Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities), continuing my advocacy for inclusive, identity-affirming care.

Outside the therapy room, I’m a mother of four (two of whom are differently abled) and an advocate for marginalized populations. My lived experience as a parent, veteran, and caregiver shapes the compassion and understanding I bring to every client I meet.

Whether you’re navigating trauma, relationship struggles, anxiety, identity exploration, or simply feeling lost in life’s transitions at Aloha Therapy for Wellness, you’ll find a warm, non-judgmental space to explore what healing looks like for you. Together, we’ll work toward calm, clarity, and self-trust — one step at a time.

  • Walk and Talk Therapy involves individuals meeting with a mental health professional, such as a therapist or counselor, to engage in a therapeutic conversation while walking outdoors. This method leverages the natural environment to promote relaxation and enhance well-being. Additionally, it encourages physical activity, which is widely recognized for its mental health benefits, as reducing stress and improving mood.

A session of Walk and Talk Therapy integrates physical activity with therapeutic dialogue, creating a distinctive and effective approach to therapy. Typically, client and therapist meet at a predetermined outdoor location, often in a natural setting like a park or scenic trail.

  • Our workshops and intensives focus on building mindfulness and resilience to help you manage stress, increase self-awareness, and navigate life’s challenges with confidence.

Through hands-on activities, guided meditation, and evidence-based strategies, you’ll learn practical tools to cultivate inner calm, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen mental clarity.

Perfect for individuals seeking personal growth or tools to enhance well-being, our workshops provide valuable insights and skills you can carry into everyday life.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a structured therapy that addresses emotional responses, reduces distress, and changes the vividness of the emotions tied to traumatic events.

It is a well-studied therapy used to treat trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain and other mental health conditions.
